How did you know you wanted to become a writer?
In elementary school I was asked, what do you want to be when you grow up? My answer; I want to be a mother, a teacher and a writer. I became a mother and a certified One Stroke painting instructor/teacher. Becoming a writer was a forgotten dream. I started reading again while waiting to pick my son up from school. Reading brought back the memory of that lost dream. I joined a community writer’s workshop several years back and hope to have a completed novel soon.
Where do you get your ideas?
I wish I knew. Life offers inspiration and characters and themes grow until I let them free.
What’s your writing style? Are you a plotter or a “pantser”?
I would call myself a combination of those, a planster. I find it easier to “fly by the seat of my pants” when it comes to writing. But having a loosely woven plot is what allows me to fly.
What is the hardest thing about writing? What is the easiest thing about writing?
I think the hardest thing about writing is also the easiest thing about writing. You can write anything you want. It’s both freeing and terrifying. No one can tell you what to write or how to write it. That blank page can only be filled by you and your imagination. That’s hard and easy.
What was your inspiration for Scent of a Husband?
Romance. My novel started with the idea of a married couple in need of romance.
Can you give us a synopsis?
Haunted by her past. Her future uncertain. Can Jenna overcome her insecurities? Will her marriage end if she reveals the secret that keeps her from living happily ever after?
What other projects are you working on?
I’ve written a children’s book, Wicky Wicky Woo Woo, which I have sent out queries. Now I wait. I’ve have written another story, not yet titled.
