Diana Lynn Writes Posts

When do you find time to write?

When do I find time to write? Anytime when my brain isn’t on shut down mode! Meaning not to tired to think 🙂 So I would call myself a “sneak it in” whenever I can, writer. I would love to say I have a routine like the advice given in blogs and books. Life is always calling. The clock is always ticking. I wish I had the luxury of having three hours of writing each day would be a luxury. I would write, then take a break for a snack, whether it’s breakfast or lunch. Do some social media and don’t forget to set a timer! We all know how cyberspace can suck us in. Then, get back to that writing goal. My time is never my own. I can sit down at my computer eager to write. So many things in my head and now I’m finally ready. “Crap! Only hours ago brilliance was running rapid in my head.” My fingers are poised ready to type and I have nothing -my brilliant words ran…

Bow Stud Earrings – Scent of a Husband

SCENT OF A HUSBAND     “Jenna looks at her earring collection and rubs her naked earlobe. She sees one of her favorites, a gift from Blake and Logan, sterling silver bow stud earrings. Carefully with her new French tipped finger nails she pulls the earring back off the post then secures the stud in her ear.”    “I, Diana Lynn, believe that everyone deserves a rainbow and I inspire women to discover who they are.” http://blog.dianalynnwrites.com “Like” Diana Lynn on Facebook

Am I a published author?

I’m excited! Can you tell? I had to post a picture of the articles. My letter to the editor was published in our local paper, The Castro Valley Forum and the Daily Review. Can I call myself a published author or maybe a writer? When do we become our dream? I’ve written a children’s book, Wicky Wicky Woo Woo, but it has not been published, neither has my contemporary women’s fiction novel, Scent of a Husband. I have written… so I can call myself a writer, but I’m not published unless I count these two articles. Many would call themselves “published” when their letters are printed in an official publication. I’m not sure if I think of myself as published since it’s a letter to an editor and not an article. Anyone in cyber- land have an opinion?   “I, Diana Lynn, believe that everyone deserves a rainbow and I inspire women to discover who they are.” http://blog.dianalynnwrites.com “Like” Diana Lynn on Facebook

I took a leap…

I jumped from the cliff of uncertainty  by sending my first query and this is my first “official” letter from the world of writing. It doesn’t matter that it’s not an acceptance or a rejection. It is a step toward what was thought of as a dream. Nothing can become a reality if you don’t take that first step -this was mine.   “I, Diana Lynn, believe that everyone deserves a rainbow and I inspire women to discover who they are.” – http://blog.dianalynnwrites.com  “Like” Diana Lynn on Facebook

Hospital Volunteers

A Writer’s Journey… I’m almost done with my  Scent of a Husband novel. Yesterday I did research by going to a hospital. I had a few what if questions so I could get some facts right. I also wanted clarification on what hospital volunteers do and why they volunteer. First people volunteer for various reasons: 1. They want to work in the medical field. 2. Retired or Widowed and looking for something meaningful. 3. They received invaluable support while a love one was in the hospital. 4. They themselves were patients and appreciated the comfort tthey were given. 5. They want to give back to the community. I interviewed the President of the Hospital Auxiliary of Volunteers. After speaking with this gentleman, who willingly gave his time, I am now thinking I’d like to someday volunteer my time.     “I, Diana Lynn, believe that everyone deserves a rainbow and I inspire women to discover who they are.” http://blog.dianalynnwrites.com “Like” Diana Lynn on Facebook

Improved Safety for Pedestrians and Bicyclists

Below is a letter I wrote to my local town paper. I’m hoping others might see this and take the survey by going either link (Facebook or blog). Dear Editor of Castro Valley Forum, I’m writing this to help get the word out… It was recently brought to my attention that there is a group, BikeWalkCV,https://bikewalkcv.wordpress.com/ working to make improvements to Castro Valley by adding sidewalks and bike lanes. I visited them on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/bikewalkcv and I found it interesting that there were only 128 likes. There could be more now as I invited my friends to “like” the page. I’m under the impression that not many of us here in Castro Valley are aware of the campaign being made to Nate Miley and the Alameda County Public Works. By visiting their blog or Facebook page citizens are urged to take a survey and voice our priorities for Castro Valley. I think it’s a shame that pedestrians have to walk in the street when no sidewalk is available. What’s worse is seeing someone pushing a stroller…
